Signals from Pinehaven #7 | We're Starting Some Kicks

Whoa It's Me Again

Hey there, Operator Reader!

Wow, two newsletters in one month? What's the emergency? Who died?

No one yet. But I've got some exciting audiobook news and I didn't want to wait any longer to share it.

On February the 13th (the first Friday the 13th this year decided to graciously give us), the audiobook team and I announced that we would be launching a Kickstarter to fund the in-progress audiobook adaptation of A Lonely Broadcast 2. But before the Kickstarter launches on March 13th (our SECOND Friday the 13th), the cast will be dropping three chapters from A Lonely Broadcast 1 on YouTube for free - today!

A FAQ? In This Economy?

What are the Kickstarter rewards?

Rewards start with a discounted/early mp3 copy of the Audiobook and include tons of add-ons: the e-book, a signed paperback, a Tarot-themed sticker set, in-character audio messages, a brand new audio story, and even a limited edition cassette tape version of the story that will never come back after the Kickstarter campaign. Updates on these deliveries and previews of the items will be sent in frequent updates via Kickstarter.

Can't afford to chip in?

That's okay! Not only are we also accepting $1 donations, but the audiobook will still be released to Kelbyron.com and Audible after production. You can still get a copy later!

If the goal is exceeded, where does the extra money go?

The team and I agreed that any excess funds will be put into a savings account that we'll store until we're ready to work on Book 3 in 2027. The goal ($3,500) will directly pay the cast and editor's hourly wages. I will not be taking an author's cut, as my income will come from royalties later. This Kickstarter is all about the audio, baybee.

Here's the full trailer and a link to the Kickstarter if you'd like to bookmark it for March!

The Next Broadcast...

The next newsletter will no doubt cover the Kickstarter launch and the first few days, as well as updates about what I'm doing with Book 3 right now! I'm going to be moving this spring, so expect some real-life updates and complicated scheduling in the near future.

Ok I love you bye!

Back to Our Feature Presentation... Hey there, Operator Reader! Sorry I was gone for a couple months, I was busy wallowing in despair. In all seriousness, the world has just felt too heavy to be creative lately, and I know this isn't a unique problem. It can be difficult to see a reason to keep writing or making art when everything outside our homes is scary and uncertain. I'm sure plenty of you are going through the same feelings right now. So, let's talk about it. How to Be Creative in The...

It's Been a Minute... Hey there, Operator Reader! I promise I didn't die. But I have a good excuse for my absence and it's: 1) I was swamped with projects, and 2) I am so very, very sleepy. But I've got way too much stuff to talk about to hold off any longer! On the docket tonight, I'm going to tell you guys about my new book release (and how to get your hands on it), the audiobook for A Lonely Broadcast 2, what I'm working on next, and some future projects I'm bouncing around in my head....

A Haze Over the Great Lakes Hey there, Operator Reader! August is here already and I can officially say that I spent a decent amount of July traveling close-to-home doing some research for my next book. Okay, yeah, playing around in the Great Lakes while humming the Kraken theme from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 isn't very academic, but it meant something to me. Joking aside, I was actually super busy. My mom, who has been in my care for ten years, was finally able to move into her own place...
