And Life Goes On...
Hey there, Operator Reader!
Oh my god, I'm never doing this again. Don't get me wrong, running a Kickstarter was SO COOL and our supporters absolutely killed it! But managing it while moving house, writing a book, and doing home renovations made this spring kind of insane. If I ever fundraise again, let's do it at a less hectic time, alright? Alright.
But more importantly, you did it!! Our campaign, which we set to cover the costs and hiring of the second audiobook, ended with over 400% our goal, giving us a pool of savings to use for stretch goal projects and book 3 next year! We could not have done this without having the coolest readers in our community, and I'm endlessly thankful to everyone who supported, shared, or just wished us well during this whole venture.
So, I think that's the best way to let you all know that the second audiobook is fully funded and ready to record! Once our wonderful lead actress recovers from surgery, we'll be meeting to discuss a timeline and ETA on the finished product. All the while, I'll be fulfilling other rewards and working on book 3, which I'm still hoping to have finished by the end of the year, so long as no one makes me move again. Ugh.
Book 3 is Bonkers
By far, the most common question I get asked is 'when is book 3 coming out?' And while I don't have an exact date yet because I'm still working on it, I am aiming to publish it and have pre-orders ready to go by the end of the year! Will I stick to that? Will something catastrophic happen between now and then? Stay tuned for the next episode of Dragon Ball Z to find out.
But what I can confidently say is, A Lonely Broadcast: Book Three is bonkers so far. It's got everything: mommy issues, strained friendships, secret government organizations, and more fucked-up eco horror nightmares. So, all my favorite things.
Whether or not this is the finale of the series is still something I'm not 100% decided on. What I do know is that Book 3 is going to continue the trend that started in book 2: just when we think things are as complicated or as sinister as they can be, new levels start to appear and make things weirder, deeper, and more intense than our everyday heroes can comprehend.
What's Coming to the Shop...
With my fourth novel in the process, I'm planning some big updates to my website and shop as well! Now that I'm settled in a new home and a new city, I have lots of personal branding work I want to do: new items in the shop, tackling hardcover designs, maybe even some merchandise inspired by the Kickstarter campaign. I know I've been teasing new merch for months. It's not that I don't want to finish it, but you know how it is when 10 other things pile up before you can finish the original thing.
I can't be the only one who feels like I'm moving slow lately, right? I've been getting a lot of those feelings: pressure to constantly produce something, to keep up with social media, to write and write and write and draw and draw and draw. Then the chores pile up, the grocery shopping needs done, friends and loved ones feel ignored. Maybe it's something in the water. Maybe it's the pressure of watching authors publish every 5-6 months while I'm lucky if I get one book a year and insisting on doing all the work myself. But this isn't me bitching -- if anything, I just want to express it in case any of you are feeling the same. Maybe it'll feel better if we all know we're in the same boat, paddling forward together through the same storm.

The Next Broadcast...
The next broadcast will include more details of upcoming announcements: an ETA on the audiobook, catching up on Kickstarter rewards (and possible leftovers), an event I'm attending in July in Michigan, and definitely more cat pictures. This newsletter was pretty short and sweet, but I just wanted y'all to know I haven't forgotten about you. Ya girl is just overwhelmed and wearing a lot of hats all at the same time. Hopefully next time we talk, I'll have taken a few of those hats off.
Ok love you bye!
